Painting Workshop

Dear Fran,
I have not told you about my painting workshop yet. For two months I have been attending a painting course sponsored by the city council.

We are a group of eighteen or twenty people who strive to achieve with the brushes and colours an image that is similar to that of the photo that we have attached to the easel. Difficult challenge!
This was one of the experiences I wanted to have since I was a child; from a day that my sisters and I met a man who was painting the hills that were seen from our land. I never knew if that painter was famous or would become famous, but I do remember that the magic of taking on a canvas the images that I saw every day, that somehow belonged to me, was recorded in my memory and did not reach dissipate never.
      Now is my opportunity.
Fran you already know that modern art is very difficult to understand, but for that reason it gives you freedom so that you can feel something completely different to what another person who is at the same distance from the painting as you are and next to you can feel.
I have to tell you that for now I am very far from getting it, that now I just know the most basic techniques and mix colours (I only bought the three primary colours plus white and black) with the help of my teacher —a boy young but who has already won many awards and is recognized in artistic circles.
Carlos, my teacher, gives me a lot of freedom - sometimes I think too much - but when I do something and I make a mistake he takes advantage of the moment and gives me (he gives us) a lesson that he learned without a doubt in his university.
For now we only have one class a week so I foresee that learning will be slow, but I'm not in a hurry; this is a hobby and I do not want it to become an obligation, besides, I have time to think about when an idea comes to me.
By the way, when I consider that something has come out that does not embarrass me, I will send you a photo.
Y. a.

Mary
