Godoy
in Tallinn
Dear Fran,
my friend Godoy has just arrived from
Estonia and has immediately sent me some
photos and his first impressions about the country.
<<11/09/19. Wednesday.
Today is Arvo Pärt's birthday. 84 years
old. Congratulations, Maestro!
I am in the neighbourhood of 'Os Blumthal'. The first thing I've done
this morning has been to look for the Tallinn Racecourse. When I found it, I took
a few pictures of a trotter that was training. Right now I am on 13th Street
Lille. It is a neighborhood with many wooden houses, although the Blumthal one is
already completely new and is not made by wood. On a plaque on its facade you
can read Eesti Autorite Ühing. I don't know why, but I'm lazy to leave this
place and I think about the experiences that these streets have lived and that
have been stored in the four walls of a house and in the memories of families.
Many of those stories we will never know, I don't even think we have the right
to know them. Mooni, Kullerkupu, Loo, Kasvu…
There are few restaurants around here, to
say none. At least from Luha to Sakala. Mealtime is very advanced and I am
really quite hungry. I don't care about an Italian, a Chinese or an Argentine.
About an Estonian restauran…
Nothing, not even a burger.
I have to get to Pärnu mnt to enter the Asian Aroma. After finishing with a
tasty plate of rice and some spring rolls, I continue discovering this city.
When
passing near the Kontserdisaal I hear rehearsals of a soprano. I take some
photos and continue towards the port.
A lot of water is falling and it has
caught me going towards Tallinna Sadam. It's 6 pm. I see the Finland ship leaving for Helsinki at
6:30. I cannot believe that this marine mastodon moves away so smoothly.>>
