When i became I
I´m learning to read and write and I like to do it on my own. All help is very welcome

     Dear Fran,
You have seen I use the capital letters if I have to write surnames and first names –like Beatrice, Violet and Hope- and when I write any word after a dot. In cities, rivers, mountains, week days, months, seas and, the most important, when I have to say I.
I write small letters just when it is inside a word like in fairy, revile, elusive, horsehair and sickle.
Within a word you can find two or three i: sibling, visit, idiot, jubilation and profitability which I don´t know what the meaning is.
You should know that my writings are improving little by little and I pay attention to avoid bad words –although some rude words are beyond my control- and that´s why I´m happy.
I try to read a little each day, always when chores are finished and I have time for myself. This woman is a strong woman still and she is very affectionate to me. So each time  I have the opportunity I pick up a book from her library and try hard to understand its lines. For now I choose books that have a large letter and, if they have some drawings, all the better cos illustrations help me understand what I´m reading. I still don´t dare with the  newspapers,  just look at the photos and recognize some words, nevertheless I don´t know what they say.
Also I know the sign ? and !  You utilize ? when you need ask something as in the case of have you finished your chores ? or where the  hell is the hen? or in any question, okay? You utilize ! when you are surprised  as in the case of check out that house! or you need to order someone to do something, move! shut up! harry! Father used to utilize this sign but I suppose whit more than one ! Harry! Shut up! Move! What I do not know if this is correct. Can I put three or four !? Can these signs go together? Is there a limit?
For the moment I continue writing some things as I hear them but try to emend my mistakes. I swallow many letters, words even. Now and then I put some letters or words more than enough as well. I write cause or cos instead of because, or summat instead of something that is more refined, but you should not be strict with me because I have to learn a lot of writing rules!
That man always corrected me and that thing cost us a very high price.
     Your affectionate,

Mary
