Vera Stanhope
I´m learning to read and write and I like to do it on my own. All help is very welcome

Dear Fran,
my friend Godoy has sent me an e-mail about the Hadrian´s Wall. He is watching the Wall again because there is a TV series entitled Vera based on books written by Ann Cleeves.

Vera Stanhope is a Detective Chief Inspector who works in Northumberland area and resolving crimes is her task.
Our main character is a middle-aged woman unconcerned with regard to her image. Both images, physical and temperamental. Vera is always wearing the same work clothes. The same work clothes, one episode after another. A raincoat, a hat and a scarf always go with Vera, with rubber gloves or not, while she handles with kid gloves the matter. She doesn´t lose sight of details nor refuses a drink, of course.
Her method in order to catch the guilty is quiet original and during the development the sarcasm and irony have a good presence. She has a phony smile in front of the villains and once in a while lets out an innocent and little yell: ooohh.
Godoy says me he doesn´t understand the English they speak. In order to encourage him I have had to explain that it´s a special accent difficult for us even. They have a vivid way of speaking our language. They are Geordies.
The storylines are varied but they are mixed with the Vera´s own story. It is not easy to separate our own life from the others.
The intrigue keeps your attention lengthways the episodes, nevertheless, Godoy says there is a thing particularly he loves. He loves looking at the scenary for the landscape remembers him places he went last summer: Gateshead Millenium Bridge, Whitley Bay, Newcastle, Tynemouth, South Shields and all. And the Hadrian´s Wall spots: Sewingshields, Crag Lough, Wallton Quarry, Willoford Bridge, Carrawburgh and all.

Sunbeam near Wallton Quarry
A landscape full of ferns, reeds, thistles, spiny rushes, wild oats, lakes, rivers and an incredible cloudy sky framed in a marvelous photography. He, my friend, recommends me this link and I recommend you it as well.

In the words of Brenda Blethyn, the North East is the best kept secret in the country.
