Õunad Haapsalus
      Dear Fran,
You ask me what I am painting right now and I will tell you that I am finishing a painting inspired by a photograph that you sent me from your trip to Estonia.

These are some apples — Õunad — that are in an old paint bucket and that the people there — Haapsalu — put at the doors of their houses so that whoever passes by them can pick the apples they want to. You remember?
When I received those photos and you told me about the purpose of those fruits, I wanted to paint them. I plan to present the work to a painting contest in a town, Lora del Río, which you surely know it.

The development of the work has led me to certain problems in terms of composition and especially to the part that for me is secondary as the floor where the cube is located on a stool. In the photograph there is no shadow cast, so I deduce that the day was cloudy, right? Another thing that worries me is that I have applied pure white where there is a little light and black directly from the tube in part of the wall of the cube and I have always heard my teacher saying that in painting you should not use white white or black black, but, you see, I am very brave and I dare with everything. I don't know what the jury will think but I like the challenge.
     I will tell you.
