Sixteenth
day of quarantine
They say that tightness in the chest is
one of the symptoms. What I miss the most is physical contact. When we go
out into the street, I will remove from my interior all the hugs that compress
my chest.
I just heard on the radio a certain Manuel
Vicent who compared politicians today with musicians who have to interpret a
score. He says that this score ( the epidemic) is very difficult to interpret
and that if you are not a good jazz musician —he must be a great fan of this
genre— you will not be able to handle it properly. He has also said that all
the countries of the world have fallen into the same mistake: putting economic
things before people... The doctor who raised the alarm in China was
imprisoned!
Fran, via mobile, I have received news that
in Paris and other places the residents are kicking the nurses out of the
building for fear of contagion. And that in a town in Cádiz they did not allow
old people who came from another town to enter for the same reason. Will panic
spread when we are confined for another two or three weeks? Will the lowest
feelings of the human being appear in the coming days?
The young volunteers who give themselves
to relief work comfort me. That is also happening in very close towns here.
Here we kill time by watching movies and
'dusting' movements of the 24 tai-chi form that I practiced a few years ago. It
is a very complete exercise and can be practiced in a few meters; you can do it at home and with loose clothing, that is, in pyjamas. But to be
honest, I hardly remember anything.
Dear friend, as you know I like to see
things in a positive sense, I make Mr Vicent's words my own and just like the
Pope the other day in an empty St. Peter's Square and with his hands washed
with lots of soap and water he blessed the world… Santa Lejía ora pro nobis.
